Meet My Little FamilyI took these photos of our little family—my husband Nils, our 1.5-year-old son, Silas, me and baby bump —using a remote at Great Chief Park next to Bower Ponds in Red Deer. This was the first Park we discovered when we moved here two years ago and it remains a favourite spot for our family. The Nikon D750 comes with wifi capabilities that allow you to connect it to an app on your phone. I love using this remote and really don't use it enough. I have really enjoyed this feature because it allows me to transfer images that I have taken to quickly share them on social media or with friends. It also allows you to take pictures with your phone as the remote. You can see what the camera sees though the viewfinder to make sure you have the image framed well. It takes a bit of practise, but it's a very cool feature. Nils and I are both from the Edmonton area. We originally met as children in a Sunday School class. We were reunited in our late teens and started dating when we were 19. We got married three years later on May 7, 2011 (seven years so far!). Silas came as a surprise to us, but a very welcome one! We moved to Red Deer in October 2016, when Nils got a job opportunity here. He works as a civil engineer their office mainly focuses on road testing. This summer we were delight to find out we were expecting baby #2 who is due to arrive at the end of February.
Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored. Earl Nightingale This quote really capture my mindset these days. I'm not someone who naturally lives in the moment, it has been something I have been working on for years. Some how with the addition of a little person in my life—who seems to be changing and developing at the speed of light—it feels easy to be present. I am enjoying 'living in the now'. No Family Photography Session is complete without a the classic swinging of the little kid. Swing him once and he's begging for it all night and dragging his feet all the way back to the car! Getting your family ready for a family photo session can be stressful. I've experienced this first hand. It can feel like the worst day of your life trying to coordinate everyone's outfits and keep the kids all clean. Sometimes family photography can feel like a big investment, but you'll never think about the cost when you look back on those memories years later. This was not a very carefully planned shoot, just a nice day where we were having pizza in the park and Silas we wearing a clean-ish shirt. Ha! Actually....when I picked him up from daycare that day he was covered head-to-toe in a secret mud stash he found in their play yard minutes before I arrived. It's important to me to offer affordable Red Deer family photography because I believe it's important to document families in the moment and where they're at. Letting kids be kids and capturing the smiles and laughs as parents enjoy them.
